Government leaders from the CRTC (Canadian Radio-television and Telecommunications Commission), ISED (Innovation, Science and Economic Development Canada) and a host of industry stakeholders including CTV Bell Media, TVO, The Weather Network and Rogers Communications met at Humber College in Toronto in January to learn more about ATSC 3.0 and the latest development in the broadcast standard.
Working with ATSC and its worldwide partners, Humber College is developing the first ATSC 3.0 living lab in Canada – a place where industry, students and faculty can converge, experiment and create new possibilities with this standard, while transforming postsecondary education through global, polytechnic leadership.
ATSC 3.0 offers tremendous disciplinary opportunities. As Canada’s largest polytechnic institution, Humber’s lab deploying these new broadcast/datacast capabilities will offer exciting new business models and innovative services in media and creative arts, applied sciences and technology, business, health sciences, social and community services and innovative learning.
Humber College is thrilled to be leading the way in Canada!
