The FCC released a public notice asking for comments regarding the petition filed by America’s Public Television Stations (APTS) and The National Association of Broadcasters (NAB) on Oct. 3.
The petition expresses concern towards the current rules surrounding Distributed Transmission Systems (“DTS”), otherwise known as single frequency networks.
The public notice states the petitioners would like to refine their signal reach and reception by adding to their coverage area, in order to further explore ATSC 3.0’s potential. This can only be done by lifting the limitations around the DTS service.
The deadline to comment on the petition will be November 12.
The reply comment deadline is set for November 27.
