Low Power Television Station of the Year
Submit a written or video essay, or a combination of such. displaying innovative and creative programming, an explanation of sound financial decisions; An example of local community participation in events, issues, and stories; examples of a commitment to produce local programming to meet the needs of people within the TV station’s broadcast area; example in partnership with local community leadership and nonprofits to provide a media platform for voices unable to be heard elsewhere. There is no minimum or limit to your submission although the more examples and explanations of the above qualification will play into the decision.
Best Television Talk Show
Submit along with a full copy of one sample program a two minute edited example of the show as it deals with important issues of the day showing guests who are engaging, authoritative, and able to communicate effectively the culture in a compelling way while demonstrating the strong production values of the program. Video can include samples from more than one program. A written short essay on the program is not required but is strongly suggested and will be meaningful to the judges.
Best Television Special Program
Submit along with the full program a two minute edited example of the program demonstrating a unique vision and perspective of the story that attempts to spotlight an issue, service or special person in the community through a compelling use of the television medium from both artistic and technical standpoints.
Best Local Television Commercial
Submit a Commercial that promotes a product, service, event, or organization and shall not exceed 30 seconds in length. The commercial is expected to be creative and innovative, and its call to action should be memorable to its intended audience. The commercial should effectively engage the audience by using the television medium from artistic, technical, and communicative standpoints. The commercial must be designed for an intended local audience. The commercial must have been aired at least once on a local LPTV broadcast station between January 01, 2018, and January 1, 2019. Please include in written essay that includes air dates, station, market and may include production background and notes on client success of commercial.
Best Television Public Service Announcement
Submit a Public Service Announcement designed to educate and inform the general public about a free public service that is offered by a non-profit or governmental organization represents technical quality and creativity, and presents a compelling message about a public service. The length of the PSA shall be no less than 15 seconds and shall be no longer than three minutes. The PSA must have been aired at least once on a LPTV broadcast station between January 01, 2018, and January 1, 2019. Please include in written essay that includes air dates, station(s), market(s) and may include production background and notes on organization’s success of PSA.
Best Television Mixed Media Campaign
Submit a minimum of four or more executions of a common message including the base television example and a minimum of three examples expressing the message on multiple platforms such as social media, print, radio, smart phone, tablet, web, billboard, etc. The message portrayed in the mixed media campaign may be commercial, promotional or PSA in nature produced by the station. The campaigned must have been aired/displayed at least once on a local LPTV broadcast station and multiple platforms between January 01, 2018, and January 1, 2019. Please include in written essay that includes air dates, station, market, associated platforms and may include production background and notes on organization success of campaign.
Best Creative Television Programming
Submit along with a full copy of one sample program a two minute edited example of the show demonstrating a unique vision and perspective of an important current issue and/or theme through episodes that demonstrate the highest standards of quality, creativity, and innovation while engaging the culture through a compelling use of the medium from an artistic and technical standpoint. The program must be long-form (at least 20 minutes in length). Edited video can include samples from more than one program. A written short essay on the program is not required but is strongly suggested and will be meaningful to the judges.
Best Promotional Television Campaign
Submit a minimum of two or more examples including the base television example that demonstrates a unique and compelling promotional concept for a television program or LPTV station. Submit at least one additional medium (radio, print, social media, etc.) The examples should demonstrate creativity, quality, and innovation that effectively engages its core audience with an ability to attract an audience to the televised event or the station in general. Please include in written essay that includes air dates, station, market, associated platforms and may include production background and notes on organization success and results of campaign.
All entry material must be sent to us by 5pm on Friday, March 22, 2019. After entry form submission, please send materials to [email protected] using Dropbox.com Google Drive or WeTransfer.com. Judges will include seasoned independent professionals in the industry. ATBA Board Members and staff will not be included as judges. Judges will work independently and will judge entries on a points basis that will be tabulated together for the winners.
