“There are only the pursued, the pursuing, the busy and the tired.” -F. Scott Fitzgerald, The Great Gatsby
The future was the focus at CES 2017.
That’s an apt description of the companies and people at CES® 2017, all of them fighting for relevance, headlines, a role in the future or just a quiet place to sit down for a while.
Future Focus
Technology again took center stage in Las Vegas, and the result was blinding, deafening, mind-numbing and mind-blowing – all pretty much at the same time. It was the 50th anniversary of CES. And, while the celebration of the past was longingly nostalgic (remember the first consumer HDTV sets unveiled at CES in 1998?), the focus of CES 2017 was definitely on the future.
Relevance for ATSC 3.0: At CES in just a few years that timeline will no doubt have an entry for “ATSC 3.0 television sets introduced for the U.S. market,” with a subheading of “This is not your father’s TV.”
